AI Needed a Platform. So We Built One.
Security Isn’t a Line Item. It’s a Decision.
I went down the AI rabbit hole a couple years ago.
Not casually.
Obsessively… like I do with all things I love.
Months of no sleep just trying to separate signal from noise. And I came out of it with a pretty strong conviction early: AI wasn’t ready to live inside products. It needed somewhere to operate.
That realization changed the trajectory for us at SitePro Inc.
We didn’t rush to “add AI.” like most early attempts we all saw. Lot's of low fidelity and disconnected from real outcomes; early AI Slop.
We made the harder call: Rebuild the platform so AI actually matters.
That meant getting uncomfortable and modernizing for a new world:
- Headless architecture
- API-first everything
- Rethinking hardware → the edge
- Realigning teams around platform, not features or service. If it didn't scale it didn't align.
Not a roadmap tweak.
A full shift in how the company operates.
If you’ve followed my posts over the last year or two, you’ve heard me talk about the edge… a lot.
That wasn’t hype.
That was direction.
Because the edge isn’t just hardware. The edge is more like a fabric where AI actually becomes useful in the real world moving faster than ever before. It’s where our platform is emerging as a clear leader in a rapidly evolving space.
Last month we shipped our standalone alarms module for the edge.
Big milestone.
But let’s be real; that’s not the story and it was nowhere close to the finish line.
The story is this:
We now have a headless, API-driven platform where agents can actually operate.
Not demos. Not “AI-powered” labels.
Real access to workflows. Real interaction with systems.
From the outside, it might look like we were just paying down tech debt.
Inside?
We were building:
→ an agent-ready platform → a data layer designed for AI → a system that exposes capability, not just UI.
And yeah… we used AI to help build it.
I told our board almost 2 years ago that 50% of our platform would be rewritten by AI by this time.
The velocity, and more importantly, the quality; is proving that out and there is no looking back at old ways of software development.
A lot of companies are trying to figure out how to bolt AI on.
We made a different bet... and we went all in on it.
Build the foundation first. Then let AI do what it’s supposed to do.
Over the last few months you’ve seen pieces of it:
- New website
- New mobile app
- Standalone edge capabilities (with remote control in development and slated for a Q3/Q4 rollout - the last major power-up for this platform)
That pace isn’t slowing down and we would not have it any other way.
What’s coming next is where it gets fun:
- Developer portal (for humans… and let’s be honest, tools like Claude)
- Usage-based pricing that actually aligns to value
- A real partner ecosystem built to scale
And a wave of AI capabilities we’ve been holding until the platform was ready across the product as well as entirely brand new AI features in the platform. Our AI product roadmap is in action and has been curated to be impactful not just a flashy marketing headline. Transformation is unapologetic and exciting and we are here for it.
We’ve also been training models at the edge for the last couple years.
Those aren’t experiments anymore.
They’re about to show up in production. The edge, at where decisions need to be made in real time, delivering real-time guidance, equipment insights, and action is where this will live. Our difference is our models are powered by over a decade of run data in this space.
Unmatched. Unrivaled.
And somewhere in the middle of all this:
We also took on SOC2. Controls are in place, attestation is on track for this year. Now it’s about letting governance take hold and building confidence with our most security-minded partners and customers.
What started as a personal AI deep dive turned into an 18-month platform evolution.
And now?
We’re not an oil & gas software company. We’re not just an automation SaaS platform.
We’re building an extensible, intelligent automation platform designed to future-proof operations; no matter what comes next!
I’m proud of the team.
But I’m also proud we saw where this was going early… and had the conviction to actually move on it and shareholders that supported it.
The platform is ready.
Now the AI gets interesting.
Let’s go build what’s next. 🚀
